Did You Know?
Working can boost self-esteem and increase independence. People who work feel like part of the community. Even so, many people with disabilities are afraid of going to work. This is often due to the fear of losing benefits. Many people spend months and even years trying to get on Social Security and don't want to risk losing it.
Did you know that Social Security offers programs to assist people in going to work? Ticket to Work gives people a chance to “try out” working without risk of losing their benefits. In addition, AHCCCS offers the Freedom to Work program. Freedom to Work allows people with disabilities the chance to work and keep their AHCCCS benefits. There are also programs that help people figure out what kind of work is best for them, like Voc Rehab.
